No Rest For the Weary.

As the weekend and monday was full of riding and antic, I am going to do this post as just a recap of the weekend. Then include monday in the following post.

So as they say in WWE Smackdown, (we know you watch it Fitz, don't try to deny.) "Let's Get It On!"

I would like to start with this quote from my computer's dictionary. It came as I was making sure that "weary" was the proper form of the word for the post's title.

weary
adjective
1 he was weary after cycling tired, worn out, exhausted, fatigued, sapped, burnt-out, dog-tired, spent, drained, prostrate, enervated; informal all in, done in, beat, ready to drop, bushed, worn to a frazzle, pooped, tuckered out. See note at tired . antonym fresh, energetic.

I would give that a pretty accurate definition. I personally am feeling fatigued and maybe a "tuckered out." Sleepy and I can certainly tell you that our boy Miosmell was, and I believe he will agree with us, "worn to a frazzle" by Sunday's shenanigans.

On that note lets get the recap on!

Big winner this weekend had to be Miosmell. He pulled off an incredible Hitcher recovery. By the time we got into the car to drive to Downieville, he has yet to put in his time. Not only that, but backed it up with some frazzled single speed mashing in the Sierra. but check this out.

First some pre-ride training. (not recommended for moving vehicles)

from there it was a 11:45 pm take off (officially starting the ride before the cut off for the day).

We then checked out some activities next door. Now I am not going to pass judgement, but these dudes where stoners for certain, heterosexuals maybe (they were there for a batchler party, but this is california.) Regardless they were definitely sweet on The Clown The cards they showed us were distinctly heterosexual as far as we could tell.

The Clown sums up the bonus part of the meeting with these burners.

Friday night lead us on a adventure around our campsite that I am sure he will post. Lets just say it involved running into some drunken stoners that had been accused by a (armed) neighbor of steeling his pain killers. Hilarious... and we did not stick around for the conclusion.

No doubt on sticking around for the conclusion. Fortunately, no gun shots were heard later that evening.

In the end, most importantly, The kid got er' done, and avoided the Hitcher.

The rest of the weekend involved a lot of this:

but more importantly, a whole bunch of this:

The only casualty was Jeff's seat binder bolt resulting in half the ride like this:
MacGyver would be proud!

Day two in the mountains saw a ruthless effort on Western States to the Holy Grail of Deer Creek, where Sleepy and I got harassed by a D-Bag who might as well be this guy

and the Clown's legs did a little something like this.

Needless to say we were all shelled. But enough about that, who else came through with weekend updates.

Here are B.Foster's updates:

Thursday:

Paradise loop – only thought – “would rather be on my mt bike”

Nice use of the skin suit. hombre
Friday:
ride to parent in MV for BBQ and back across GGB at midnight. 70’s out, lots of wine in my stomach, had the bridge all to myself. Super fun.

looks like someone is was really feeling the tights.
Saturday:
Blazing heat, MV up railroad. Highlight was running into my brother out on the mountain. Good to see him embracing the mv lifestyle and riding his mt bike.
Way too hot, turn around almost at westpoint and head for t-foot. Quick shower off to wedding.

I think everyone who went out over the weekend got a serious dose of global warming.

Sunday:
Rode up divis to Mojo bicycle café to chill drink java and read the paper. Fight off the crushing headache from previous nights wedding. Ride to several bars/house parties during course of day. Pedal home sometime around 9ish. This is the only shot of the night somewhere in SF.

Rounding out a solid weekend for Bananas for sure.

Master Schierholtz had this to say of his work:

Surfed 4 sessions all day out at Bolinas, got home at 10:30pm and went for an hour lap in GG park, crushing. Yesterday am ride followed by pancakes at the Westpoint inn. Commuting home tonight.
I am tired.
Keep the needle on the record,

Chris

For sure an epic effort both the upper and lower body crushing in one day. The man's an animal, especially since his bike selection consists of either this or this.
But you really know the man's surf buddies are the big ballers round town.

word from the Injured Reserve over the weekend was that the rest of us are suckers.
Pirate Ellis said, Being on the IR doesn’t seem so bad now. 85 in the city, drinking beers with 24 year old babes. Anyone want to hit me in the face with a log?

Fitz brought hard on Saturday with his own crusher roastery ride, looks like he paid the price too. We gonna see ya through the next 3 weeks.

8am start from mv, around resevoir, pt reyes, cinnamon bun, mt vision, samuel p to home. 72 miles, 90+ degrees. Beyond obliterated. Even looking at my bike tomorrow will be challenging.

Did anyone notice that Fitz caught himself a delicious bass?

To round the rest out,
D Griffs, took it to the skinnies for some weekend pain.

I think Murph said he's hitting the trainer on the other side of the pond.

Oh and sleepy, not only was part of the tahoe ride on Sunday, but rocked a 4 hour epic with the lady, in which she guzzled, amongst other things, all his water. So he was extra dehydrated.

I think that will wrap up the weekend as reports came through. It was a long post, hopefully it was worth it to you to look. I'll combined tues/mond together as there were some special reports from peeps going deep to get the week started.

Late
P
