Day 5, Stayin Alive... On to Day 6.

Hey All-

Here We go. I've been working and working to get this thing up and going again, and it has been tough.

At any rate, here are a few updates.

From the MV Scene, Me the Kiwi, Reevie, and Weak Sauce have been hitting up a few rides together. Along with that, I got a good one in with Frosty on Day 4... I think it was 4 anyway. Having been missing my camera, I haven't been able to snap too many shots, but here are a few from the past days.

Day 1: As quoted by the Bo Kid on Suntrail. "I mean I do the same thing man, get on the trails, but 20..? Dude..?"

Sick Singletrack

Schooky of course without la ropa.

Day 2 was a scorching roll of the dice, though these photos don't really do the justice of how my legs felt afterwards. Keep an I on that Kiwi, He's got some legs for shizzle.

For Days 1,2, and 3, I got word from Weeder that Mendo and the surround trees were epic on the skinnies.
Quick update from the north.
Day one solid 2.5 hours on the redwood highway. Sweet rolling river road throught the woods.
Day two pounding out 45 miles some hills and of course fucking trees the size of skyscrapers. On the redwood highway and then thru old groth forest road. back to camp with a little single track poach.
Day three a.k.a. Pinch flat day. Pounding up three miles of steep ass shit. Then to a road that turned to steep ass down fire road handling the huge chunks of gravel. Feeling on top of it fixie skidding hipster style. Then that flat feeling, the repair all good... Hating myself about the point when I was packing and thinking "I'm not gonna need co2..." quick note you always need the co2 worth every 500 fucking pennies (or 40 bucks for the whole set up and extra cartridges with tube at fort brag cycles. And if you think I'm a bitter bike shop guy go chat with him... He Makes me look like Skye.)... So steep ass two miles or gravel the size of mother ass babies the road smooths out for fifteen miles of the the sweetest road I swear to god makes me want to give up the dirt... Almost. All in all with the walking and flat 30 miles of good spinning. Good loop.

Tomorrow is Cameron road from navorrow river to paper mill. About 40 miles.

And on a side note I'm riding the benotto fixed wheel. Yeah Weeder style.

And to pete and weak sauce. Tons of avo and rice cakes up here if you bros need a refill.

Peace and avo
Regards,
Matt

Heading into day 6, with legs feeling a bit rousted, from an epic with the Kiwi yesterday, Coastal-Heather Cuttoff-Miwok Singletrack (AKA poison oak Trail), which I'll have you know Kiwi and I got harassed my a Sierra Douche with a NPS hat on. It almost came to physicality, but fruitcake knew better. But apparently, by riding trails we're ruining it for everyone.-on to Miwok Fire road-whatever it is to tennessee valley-rhubarb. As I am sitting in my office doing work to catch up before taking off for Nicky D's Bachelor party as well as SSWC09, I will probably be knocking out a road loop as soon as I return home to MV.

Other than that, I haven't been getting updates from many, so shoot me some mail with pic and other such business. I'll start creating some more posts if I got some good stuff from the rest of you folks out there. Having Found my Camera

That's if for now. Check I'll hit you up with the next post soon.

Oh yeah... Weak Sauce-that was stEvil with Loudass.

Back to back Tuesdays.

The band got partially back together a few weeks ago and let me tell you something. It was cold and wet. And not the good kind like an Icy Coke on a hot southern day. Nope! I'd say it was a bit more like this.

Additionally, the man in that foto is none other than our own little sister, Mr. Blister. As it turns out, its pretty easy to find a photo of this kid. Also, as it turns out, when it rains out, and it gets way dark, and his glasses get all full of sweat and water, riding bikes with him is like riding Old Mine Trail while spotting Bobby.

Anyway, back to the that tuesday ride. Like I said it was feeling like the good old days, way back 6 months ago. Some of the jokers that showed up were,
Weak Sauce...and potentially only getting weaker, we'll have to see next tuesday.

Shookie, getting back on track for some Downieville XC race.

And Frosty "where'z a brotha been" Freeze.

Oddly the ride started DT MV, slightly off the mark as you can see.

That'd be 6:15 heading straight for 6:30 if you can't see the town clock.

In Brief, the whole ride went down like this:

it started ugly

then it got Rad

Then Blister decided to shred the his blue steed.

Then it got dark

Then it got dark, real dark, and real rainy

This was the best I could do video wise, but good thing Bliss had the blinker.

Anyway that was epic ride number one so far. At least in the messy, cold, wet, late, not enough gear, can't really see kind of way. The following tuesday is coming up, though much simpler story.

Boggs turns the cogs

Hey all

Back from a hiatus. Amongst other things, I moved from here:

To Here:

Sebi is bummed about the yard, but I think this weekend made up for it. Boggs is great place to ride and take the dog. Its a State Demonstration Forest, whatever that means. All I know is that it has sick singletrack, you can burn wood (however you want to take that), dogs can hang and be off leash, and there is tons of camping.
Here is a look at the course:

And a look a look at yours truthfully coming in from a hott lap.

Giving credit where credit is due, these photos came from:
Ted
and one of the girls in our group, but I have forgotten her flickr name. So she'll just have to hunt me down for the no credit
Anyway, the race when down without a hitch and Davin and I crushed 10 laps a bit over 8 hours. We were bested by a mere 9 other teams, one of which had the exact same time as us. Shenanigans for sure! we obviously rousted those guys by at least one second.

The next event coming up is Shasta Lumerian If you don't know it, get on it, cause it is ripper, and also painful, and also fun. Grassroots epic for sure. Though in past years a slew of Pro folks have turned up post Sea Utter to take the top spots. They haven't spoiled the party yet though.

Back on Track...Singletrack that is.

The new ride season is offical! We got a 4 person showing for tuesday night ride. not the huge posses of the summer, but hey, we'll take what we can get. As it seems many other people were feeling the need to check out the sunset and full moon rise on this first stellar day post time change. The clown and I managed to snap a few photos of the epicness.

Frosty

and Schierholtz

made the trip for sure, but headed down homestead valley while the clown and I headed through to miwok a la rubarb. and of course b-lined it straight to joes.

Ok, well in the end here, I'll leave those of you looking for the L word with this little clip that assures that everyone finds it in the end... well almost.

Cold Wet Rhubarb Pie Couldnt Get Any Better.

So, rain is falling... Finally. Sunday promised rain, which in turn promised for a weak sauce attempt for a ride. As it happened, it never really rained and fired up on a bagel and coffee the OG Weak Sauce

(note the capitals) opted for a charge up the infamous blithedale ridge to the backside lakes. At which point I figured might as well put tamarancho in the mix. I have to say after feeling like I was towing an anvil around the loop, then dabbing on that one techy spot for the first time in as long as I can remember, I realized I had forgotten how to ride with an old friend. That friend being absolute rage. Amazing what a packet of clifblocks and a fury for fucking up on a bit of trail you usually get a piece of satifaction out of can do for the pace of ride. Needless to say after 4 hours of shralping the motor was blown. Let's just also say that Weak Sauce was enfuego and was captain of the hurt locker for quite a good chunk of the ride.

So, bringing us back to the Tuesday Night Ride.

Weak Sauce and I reunited for a sloggish pedal with the mountain to ourselves. We got onto some sweet singletrack which may or may not have taken us past the German Tourist Club, then across Miwok firetrail, and down to the delicious tasty trail named after a red celery/kale ish looking vegetable often used in pies. It was about the best hour and a half I spend on the bike in a long while.

Speaking of spending time on a bike, here's a glimpse of my up and coming one speed rig from every body's favorite Petaluma builder.

If you read the fine print on the top you will see that Sean

and the host of HTATBL are truly very good friends.

Ok well that is all for now. If you really need to waste some time, here is a great vid. A quick disclaimer, as far as i know I am not of the non-heterosexual variety, and I "a friend" showed me this clip, which I found most hilarious. That said, it is of the Elen Digenirous (sp?) show. Nevertheless, If the world of DNA made more people like this, well I don't know what, but the world would probably be a much more poignant place. the best line comes at about minute 4, but the whole chunk is pretty solid.

hopefully see you tuesday night.

2009...Frankenbike is back

After a long hiatus since 30/30, I've decided to get back on the blogging action. Definitely got some things to do this year, but mostly need to get my ride on.

So, how'd the year start out you might ask? Hungover too start. but Master Weeder and I were able to pull of an pretty solid one speed epic. A little cardiac struggle up T-foot. Off to west point for a bit of basking in the sun. Then a b-line to Coastal for a very zen like decent in which only the sound of wind, dirt under the tires, and the oceanic scenery and singletrack ahead.

The Pelican and its wares welcomed us warmly, though for some reason we opted to freeze our asses off on the lawn. One of these would have definitely helped out. As you can see below other than being cold... it was good.

The ride out was very much le suxx. Full bellies, two big beers deep, and not enough light to safely navigate much more dirt, we resided to pedaling pavement to a bit of Miwok, then set land speed records on the way down from the ridge.

finish that whole thing off with a bloody mary and a trip to the mayonnaise factory . I'd say that was a nice way to break in the new year.

look for more to come soon.
